Thermal water clubs in the west of Santa Catarina

11/08/2009

The west of the state of Santa Catarina, south of Brazil, is a region that was colonized recently. There are no big towns over there, and the economy is based on agribusiness and, on a smaller scale, tourism.

Because of the great distance between the far west of the state and the coast, most of the people who live in that part of the state spend the vacation and holiday time travelling around the region. In addition to that, there are several thermal water sources around the area, so some entrepreneurs had the idea to build clubs and resorts with thermal water pools to atract the local tourists.

Today there are quite a lot of these clubs in the far west of Santa Catarina, and the most visited are located in the cities of Águas de Chapecó, Quilombo, São João do Oeste, Palmitos and São Carlos.
