Eiffel Tower

13/08/2009

The Eiffel Tower is the tallest structure of Paris, with 324 m, and an icon of France. It is also the most visited paid monument of the world.

Totally made of iron, it was designed by the French enginner Gustave Eiffel and constructed between 1887 and 1889. It was built as the entrance arch of the Exposition Universelle, a World Fair that celebrated the centenary of the French Revolution. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest tower in the world, and since then more than 200,000,000 people have visited it.
